About Dr. Gayle

On a personal note…

In my time away from work I enjoy hiking, camping, running, paddleboarding, kayaking, and pretty much all outdoor activities. I enjoy a good suspense book and love listening to Podcasts. My podcast lists range from health and wellness to current events, along with the occasional true crime pod. I have several dogs and cats that are a part of the family and if I had the space I would have more.

Training and Education

Prior Work

I have over 15 years of experience working as a clinical psychologist, serving adults with a range of mental health conditions. I have primarily worked in the Veterans Healthcare System serving our nation’s Veterans. This included working with individuals presenting with small life adjustments and goals, as well as trauma disorders, anxiety, depression, Bipolar Disorder, substance use disorder, and psychotic disorders. I served in both clinical and leadership roles at the VA hospital, and developed several programs for specific populations.

Education:

I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Saint Martin’s University in 2004 and immediately entered my doctoral program in Clinical Psychology at Seattle Pacific University. I graduated with my Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology in 2009. Prior to completing my Doctorate, I completed a pre-doctoral internship at VA New Jersey Healthcare System in Lyons, New Jersey.

Why do I do this work?

I entered into the field of psychology because I wanted to help people achieve their goals and improve mental wellness. During my undergraduate training I had the opportunity to serve an underserved population, clients with serious mental illness recently released from the hospital and saw the desperate need for compassionate care for all clients who seek to improve their mental health. I became determined to earn a Doctorate in Psychology to improve mental health services. At the VA hospital I had the opportunity to help improve systems. However, I noticed that there was also a significant need in the community for therapists that offer outpatient services. I made the leap to leave the VA and serve clients within my community to improve access to services for adults seeking mental health treatment.
